The abuse of mobile is harmful to brain health and may accelerate the development of tumors, according to a new Swedish scientific study.
The debate on the dangers of cell phone gets more beautiful! The mobile phone use affects brain health, according to results of a study published in the medical journal Pathophysiology. It increases by 30% the risk of developing a glioma (brain tumor). And after 25 years of abuse, the brain would be 3 times more likely to develop this type of pathology.
Researchers from the University Hospital of Örebro conducted a new study to understand the association between the use of mobile phones and the risk of developing a glioma.
To create a link, the scientists compared through specific questionnaires, usage patterns of mobile phones in 1800 patients who developed this tumor and those of healthy patients.
They compared their use of telephone, fixed and mobile, type of smartphone use, the use of a headset, the duration of daily calls and the time for which they had this type of device.
The results of this study indicate that the use of mobile increases by 30% the risk of glioma, and that risk increases significantly for each "slice" of 100 hours for each year of use. So much having been extended with a mobile phone for 25 triple contact this risk.
This study also reveals that with a mobile phone or wireless before the age of 20 years also increases the likelihood of glioma in the elderly.
These new findings confirm the concerns of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a specialized agency of the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified 2011 laptop as possibly carcinogenic to humans.
It is recommended to avoid using the phone in elevators and vehicles (where reception is poor) and moving (repeated change of antennas) as it increases exposure to waves. It is also advisable to focus on short conversations, use headsets and avoid letting young children use a laptop, according to the report by the European Environment Agency.
