The Strange City Where Live Only Females

Veil Cordeiro city in the south of Brazil took the myth of the Amazons a little too literally. Now they invite male visitors first.

The city only for women, home to about 600 people, is pretty revolutionary idea. Although some of these women are married, their husbands and children living elsewhere during the work week. Men follow the rules of their wives and only return on weekends.

Women manage all aspects of the city, including its agricultural system.

Residents say the city only drawback is the difficulty of finding a boyfriend or husband. They are interested to invite people to the city, but only if they understand the guidelines and lifestyle.

According to legend, she was simply the man who was forced to marry escaped.

Other women joined her, and were classified as loose women, because of the absence of men in the community. Since then, the city has come a long way.

Rosalee Fernandes, 49, said that the city is more harmonious than it would be if men lived there, too.
"In case of problems or conflicts arise, resolve as a woman, trying to find a consensus rather than conflict," he said.

"We share everything, even the land they work. Nobody competes with anyone here. It's all for one and one for all.

"The whole town gathered recently to help buy a huge big screen TV for our community center for everyone to watch soap operas together.

"And there's always time to stop and talk, try on the clothes of the other and do the hair and nails of others.
